As alumnae of Saint-Joseph de Cluny, these women lead with integrity, compassion, and a vision to preserve our legacy while empowering future generations. Through collaboration, strategic planning, and community engagement, they guide the association's efforts to support education, foster unity among alumnae, and uplift our school community both near and far.
Together, they embody the spirit of service and sisterhood that defines us.
Dr. Juslene Toussaint Poincy
Born in Cap-Haitien and mother of three, Juslene Toussaint graduated from the Soeurs de Saint-Joseph de Cluny's 1996 class.
After completing her secondary studies, she enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy at the State University of Haiti, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree. She later specialized in Dermatology and dedicated her expertise to various hospitals in the capital for over fifteen years.
Her unwavering belief in the necessity of providing accessible healthcare for all, along with her passion for serving the most vulnerable populations, led her to spend most of her career in hospital settings. She worked at the State University Hospital of Haiti (the general hospital) and at the Fame Pereo Clinic, a facility specialized in treating skin diseases. She also taught and supervised practical training for medical students from public and private universities in the capital.
Now residing in the United States, she continues pursuing her passion in healthcare. Justine Toussaint P. symbolizes courage, resilience, and continuous effort in achieving her goals. She represents the model of a strong Haitian woman, capable of caring for her family and dedicating herself to noble causes that help advance her community.
Dr. Gessie Delusma Petit-Frere
Originally from Grande Rivière du Nord and a graduate in obstetrics and gynecology since 2006, Dr. Gessie Delusma Petit-Frère has worked as a senior OB-GYN at the Emergency Obstetric Reference Center (CRUO) of the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). At the same time, she served at the OFATMA Hospital in Cité-Militaire as an on-duty physician assigned to the maternity ward.
At both MSF and OFATMA, Dr. Delusma was recognized and appreciated for her professional qualities, notably her ability to manage obstetric emergencies and her humility and compassion.
Committed to the continual improvement of her specialty, OB-GYN, within the Haitian medical landscape, she became a member of the Haitian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (SHOG). She consistently and determinedly promotes the technical, regulatory, and ethical foundations of obstetrics and gynecology.
In the same spirit, Dr. Delusma has invested in sharing and passing on medical knowledge by serving as a clinical training supervisor.
Now, she is entering a new chapter in her young but remarkably intense medical career, and she is always committed to placing humanity at the heart of her practice, Dr. Delusma is advocating for promoting and strengthening women’s sexual and reproductive health rights in Haiti.
A passionate reader, music lover, and dancer, she is married and the mother of two children.
Mrs. Elizabeth Jacques Chery
A Journey of Dedication, Growth, and Impact
From a young student passionate about learning to a seasoned professional dedicated to making a difference, Elizabeth's journey is a testament to resilience, ambition, and unwavering commitment.
A proud graduate of the Class of 1996, she pursued higher education with determination, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from PUCMM in 2004. Her career took flight within the United Nations Mission in Haiti, where she established a strong foundation in administration, honing her skills in a dynamic and high-impact environment. After years of excellence in this field, she seamlessly transitioned into human resources, serving as an HR Manager for three years, guiding teams, shaping policies, and fostering organizational growth.
Now based in Florida, Elizabeth continues her professional path as a Program Assistant at a nonprofit organization, where she channels her expertise into initiatives that create lasting change. Her ability to adapt, lead, and inspire remains at the heart of her career.
Beyond her professional achievements, Elizabeth holds deep-rooted memories of her high school years. She fondly recalls the laughter and camaraderie shared during school festivities and the engaging grammar classes with Sister Marthe, where learning was an unforgettable experience.
Even in her free time, her passion for connection and growth shines through. She values meaningful friendships, seeks out new development opportunities, and remains committed to supporting causes that matter. Her journey is far from over, her impact continues to grow, touching lives and inspiring those around her.
Dr. Fabiola Ferdinand
A Life of Unwavering Service, Strength, and Purpose
Dr. Fabiola Ferdinand is a compassionate and driven public health professional and military officer with an unwavering dedication to serving vulnerable populations across the globe. Born and raised in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, she completed all her primary and secondary education at Les Sœurs de Saint-Joseph de Cluny, graduating in 1996. She is a proud graduate nurse of the École Nationale d'Infirmières Notre-Dame de la Sagesse du Cap-Haïtien (EINDS), a foundation that laid the groundwork for her lifelong commitment to health, service, and community.
Deeply grateful for the values and education instilled in her during those formative years, Dr. Ferdinand founded the Sœurs de Saint-Joseph de Cluny Alumni Association, INC, with the vision of giving back to the institution that shaped her. Her goal is to uplift future generations of students and strengthen the school's legacy of excellence and service.
With a Doctorate in Health Science specializing in Global Health, a Master's in Public Health with a focus on Environmental and Occupational Health, and a Bachelor's degree in Health Services Administration, Dr. Ferdinand has built a meaningful and impactful career.
Her diverse experience spans leading COVID-19 public health initiatives overseas, evaluating healthcare facilities across the United States, and protecting vulnerable children through frontline social work. Each role is a testament to her unwavering commitment to human dignity, public health, and social equity, which are the guiding principles of her professional journey.
As a seasoned leader in health and human services, she has guided and mentored emerging professionals, spearheaded critical medical readiness initiatives, and consistently excelled in leadership roles focused on health services, safety, and resilience. Her exceptional technical expertise, unwavering integrity, and deep empathy have earned her recognition, and her leadership style, rooted in compassion, leaves a lasting impression on all who have the privilege of working with her.
Dr. Ferdinand is also a proud mother, a resilient and reliable leader, and someone who brings warmth and wisdom wherever she goes. Whether reading, dancing to her favorite music, or planning joyful events for her community, she remains grounded in love for people and purpose. She is the kind of person anyone can count on, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Today, Dr. Ferdinand continues to use her voice, knowledge, and compassion to uplift others, champion public health, and advocate for those most in need. Her journey, from Cap-Haïtien to the global stage, is a testament to resilience, gratitude, and the enduring power of service, inspiring all who hear her story.
Serving alongside the board, three committed members of the Les Sœurs de Saint-Joseph de Cluny Class of 1996, Youdeline Alcina, Geraldine Ferdinand, and Miriane Petit-Papa, have played key roles in advancing the efforts of the Sœurs de Saint-Joseph de Cluny Alumni Association, Inc.
While not official board members, they have actively contributed to the planning, coordination, and implementation of various initiatives and continue to be integral to the association's ongoing development and success.
